16th January A Bit of a Scare!

Well, at least we now know that the Fire Brigade know where we are, that it takes them 20 minutes to get from South Molton and about 5 to get round the right-angle bends in our narrow lane! LOL Hopefully, this will be the only time we ever see a fire engine outside our house! I'll (maybe) not complain about the rain again... had the trees next door not been saturated that sparking 11,000 volt electric cable would have sent the lot up - possible our dairy and stables as well! HUGE thank you to the fire brigade and Western Power! (and I won't grumble about the churned-up lane, scraped banks and flattened snowdrops...) Also thank you to our 'guardian angels' (our resident ghost friends who keep an eye on the place) for nudging fate to send me up the lane to help get the playing-up naughty ponies & Donk in. I rely on hearing a lot more than my weak sight - so was instantly alert to an odd crackling sound - the overhead cable sparking!

All well in the end thank goodness!

Sitting as a family before our cosy log fire .... candles lit, glass of red wine in hand, chicken and kebab take-away dinner consumed (also by candlelight), what more could we have wanted? Well maybe electricity! LOL
