A-Z REFLECTIONS

Well, I did it I'm a....

So what are my thoughts?

I decided to have a central theme (my home in Devon) but to have very different posts each day - from K for Chimney Kings  to Y for Yellow

About a week into the challenge I started wondering "Why are you doing this?" It all took so much time - and as I explained in T for TimeyWimey Stuff time is something I'm short of. (It's OK for the Doctor he can hop about through time - I only have the bog-standard 24 hours in which to get everything done.)

But then I got into my stride and used scheduling to the best advantage - I wrote selveral posts, scheduled them for 2.30 a.m to catch the Australian or late Californian 'market' and started enjoying myself!

I notice the first few posts grabbed the most attention, along with the extra specials : M for Moorland Mousie (about Exmoor ponies and I sneaked Poldark in....) was the highest attraction (hmm was that for the Pony or Poldark?)

...Poldark - Pony :)

spot the likeness.....

G for ghosts went well
P for Puppy was one of the most popular

and C for Cider With Rosie (and Cats) caught a lot of visitor's interest

  • I had 5752 pageviews and hopefully I've collected a few new regular visitors.
  • Most visitors came via Facebook (very few through Twitter)
  • My regret was that I didn't have much spare time to visit many other Blog Challenger's posts. I set out to visit 100 a day - soon gave up.
  • However, if bloggers have used direct links (as I have) I now have all year to drop in and out of new blogs and new adventures.
  • I hope new visitors do so with my blog as well!
  • Will I do it again
  • YES!

But I think I'll prepare earlier and keep the diversity - visitors seemed to enjoy the different articles, something new each day.

Next year's theme?

I might have fun with Pirates!

...Z SHAPED (and zoom)
Tthe final day of the A-Z April Blog Challenge. It has been great fun, and thank you for joining me!
I do hope you have enjoyed the various posts I've put here during the month of April. As you have probably realised, I love my home here in Devon - to the extent that I still have a few tears occasionally when I walk down the lane and look across and see our house, or I sit on my bench in our top field and gaze at the view. Words cannot express the love I have for 'Windfall Farm'

So let me share with you what I am so grateful to have... and as I said in my G is for Ghosts post, I am well aware that the house and the land is not mine.... but I belong to the house and the land as a temporary caretaker.

The land is - very conveniently for this blog challenge  - sort of Z shaped!
Let's start with the left-to-right - this bit of the Z...

The Orchard is north-facing behind the house running west to east:

At the front of the house, the front garden and the lane beside it form the downward stroke of the Z (although actually it is a bit straighter perhaps more of  l than a / )

The garden runs north to south

the lane  runs parallel with the front garden

left-hand side looking UP the lane
looking DOWN the lane
at the top of the lane we have the bottom bit of the Z : the _
This is our fields, Bottom Field, Middle Field and Top Field

So Bottom Field and Middle Field:

I so hope you have enjoyed "Leaning On The Gate" with me

....YELLOW

The penultimate post for the A-Z April Blog Challenge

Yellow is such a warm, colour

I once heard a saying about a blind person picturing colours as feelings
I think of yellow as: sun on your face, butter melting on hot crumpets or toast, a spring or summer's day.
Yellow is rich in love, a hug, a smile, a friend...

But no more words, just pictures...
